You can call me a loser…

As of 3/18/2011, I have lost a total of 28 pounds since 1/3/2011 (12 weeks). I have lost a total of 63 pounds since 3/28/2010. I got off track after Sethen and I moved in together and I managed to gain some poundage back, but since the beginning of this year and the wedding countdown has begun, I’m more dedicated than ever. Currently, I am on a diet plan that allows 1400 calories a day and I work out some every day. At least 4 days a week, I have a serious, intense, sweaty work-out for about 45-60 minutes straight. I drink at least 64 ounces of water a day and I no longer consume any refined sugar, enriched flour, red meat, fried foods, or any soda. It has been much easier than I imagined. I have logged every single thing I have consumed for 70 days in a row now and I’m convinced that counting my calories has made the weight loss journey MUCH easier. Sethen has also been on the weight loss journey with me and this has contributed greatly to my success. Since 1/3/2011, Sethen has lost a total of 17 pounds.

I’ve always been incredibly confident in my skin and I didn’t start this journey because I was unhappy with the way I looked. In fact, I think my biggest thing working against me was my high self-esteem. I thought I looked great and saw no need to lose weight. I’ve always been healthy. My blood pressure was never high, cholesterol levels were always great, etc. Seriously, my health is great, but just because it is great at the age of 23, that doesn’t mean it will always be great. I started down this road because I want to live a long and full life. Better to change things now then wait until things get bad.

Also, I purchased a wedding dress that was 4 sizes smaller than I was when I measured. Oops! How’s that for motivation? As I continue to discover this new way of life, I’m excited about what is in store.

When I measured for my fitting, I needed to lose a total of 5’ from each measurement (bust, waist, hips). I have since lost 7” from my bust, 4.5” from my waist, and 4” from my hips. The most difficult place to lose inches has been my hips. My genetics must be against me on this one. I have big booty (though it is nice and plump) and that’s going to be difficult to lose. If anyone has any suggestions on how to lose inches off my hips and thighs, I would be open to hearing suggestions!

So, I am now officially 12 weeks into the “official” weight loss journey and I have 29 weeks until my wedding. It definitely won’t stop there, but I am so excited to see where I will be by then.

Note: The picture from 2008 is the only one I could locate where you can get a decent idea of my weight, even though at my heaviest I was probably 15-20 pounds heavier.
